Pharmacology is the study of medications and their effects on living beings. It is a discipline of pharmacy and medicine that studies the interactions between medications and their target cells, tissues, and organs. Pharmacology lays the groundwork for understanding drugs and their administration. It is medical science that is the backbone of the medical profession, since pharmaceuticals are the cornerstone of human disease therapy. As a result, it is critical to understand the pharmacological basis of treatments in order to optimize the advantages and limit the risks of medications to recipients. The purpose of this course is to empower practitioners by teaching them the core scientific principles of pharmacology. The drugs in this course were chosen based on Ethiopia's national drug list and the accumulated expertise of teaching pharmacology to numerous health profession students. As a result, the course seeks to offer students with a thorough understanding of drug principles, mechanisms, and therapeutic uses in a variety of healthcare contexts. Students are encouraged to refer to the references mentioned for further information, and I hope that this course will be a valuable companion in our pursuit of a fundamental understanding of a most fascinating area of clinical knowledge, pharmacology.
